Maths Behind Rockets?

I am doing a fairly extensive project on the mathematics behind sending a rocket into space, and plan to learn the theory and and explore or derive all relevant equations. I would appreciate an answer telling me what concepts/equations are related. Currently I know of escape velocity equation, and Newton's second law for variable mass. Anything to be added?
